Microneedling

What is Microneedling?

Simply put, microneedling is the insertion of very fine short needles into the skin for the purposes of rejuvenation, explains Macrene. The most popular (and cost effective) microneedling device, known as a dermaroller, is made up of micro-fine needles that range in diameter from 0.5 and 2.5 millimeters. But, if the prospect of multiple needle wounds sounds slightly ominous to you, know that the punctures are more like pin-pricks that enter only surface-level deep. It can be used on any skin type.

Microneedling may help address many skin-related complaints, including:

  • wrinkles

  • scarring

  • acne

  • alopecia

  • skin pigmentation issues

  • stretch marks

  • rosacea

  • loose skin, such as after weight loss or liposuction

In addition, Cosmetika Aesthetics uses microneedling to deposit skin-rejuvenating options such as Vitamin C, hyaluronic acid, or PRP treatment.

What is PRP Microneedling?

PRP is created from a person’s own blood, and is a concentrated blend of plasma cells and specific growth factors. When injected into tissue, it bathes the cells to naturally stimulate the healing process. This advanced technique is often used by professional athletes who need to recover as quickly as possible, to help to reduce recovery time. As a regenerative technique that accelerates the body’s natural healing processes, in conjunction with microneedling, the treated area of skin can restore and rejuvenate for a firmer, more youthful texture and flexibility.

Is Microneedling with PRP right for me?

Microneedling with PRP is available to adults who want to improve the appearance of the skin on various body areas. Microneedling is also an effective treatment for reducing the appearance of stretch marks. It is a safe and effective treatment for all skin types. The depth of the microneedling will be adjusted for each individual and the body areas to be treated. This low-risk treatment is appropriate for clients with darker skin types and for clients for whom laser treatments would be inappropriate.

What to expect with microneedling with PRP

Before your treatment begins, a numbing gel is applied to the area so the process is comfortable. The appropriate depth for the microneedling will then be selected, based on your skin type and condition. Our clients report that the treatment is not uncomfortable, with a sensation like a light sandpaper moving across your skin. Our Los Angeles microneedling treatments require about one hour to complete, depending upon the size of the body area to be rejuvenated.

After your treatment, you will notice immediate results, which will continue to improve over the next few days and weeks. As your body’s natural collagen production is now stimulated, you should see the texture and quality of your skin continue to improve for up to six months. Recovery time is about one to three days depending on how aggressive the treatment. You will be provided with all the information you need about caring for your skin after microneedling.
